Kielder Ospreys in 2012

Kielder Ospreys in 2012

In 2012 healthy young osprey chicks were born, for the fourth year in a row. In 2009 it was the first time on record that ospreys had recolonised naturally in Northumberland so we are delighted they continue to return every year.

They currently have a record breaking two pairs that successfully breed!  Our guests have been up to watch the Osprey and were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Osprey hunting over Kielder water!

Such a magical time of year with young ones frantically being fed. We have been lucky enough to capture a Tawny Owl Fledgling up on site on our wildlife cameras and also to see three beautiful young Stoats negotiating the road and long grass on the way up to Wild Northumbrian yesterday. We have gained a Gosling at home named Sundance by Lizzie, abandoned by its parents it now has become part of our family, noisy but it has 5 humans to compete with!
